Grief-Sensitive Training

The Grief-Sensitive Healthcare Project develops and delivers training for healthcare professionals, equipping them to provide the best possible care to grieving families. Trainings are varied in content areas, though they all educate professionals in developing effective, empathic, and reflective practices in their work with bereaved families. Broadly, these trainings facilitate non-mental-healthcare professionals to understand the bereavement process, appreciate the importance of working within the context of each individual family's structure/system/culture, and develop one's own reflective capacity and self-care.

Below, you will find information about a number of trainings we offer. Each of our trainings may be delivered virtually by our experienced facilitators, and the majority of trainings are 90-120 minutes in length. If you are interested in a training below and there are no upcoming dates showing, or if you are interested in requesting a custom training, please contact us.

We definitely do not get enough of this topic in our undergraduate training, and in our field this is something we see frequently. Having tangible tools to use to help us to guide our patients and their families through the death, dying, and bereavement process is so invaluable. – Nursing student
